Workshop Summary

In this 2 hour workshop, learn how to create a participant-engaged conversational space to explore ways in which we each approach our restoration work and how we collaborate to uplift community work.

We live on a diverse continent both in natural and cultural terms. Doing ecological restoration requires that we are responsive to this diversity in all dimensions. How we arrive at our work is a key to its success. Panelists and participants will discuss successes, as well as struggles, and hope to hear and share practical ways of making restoration welcoming and accessible. We invite participants to please come with a question on this topic that they ask themselves often or have confronted in their own work. Everyone is welcome and this space will be respectful, with inclusion as its central goal.

In this workshop, attendees will learn and share their experiences with:

  • Making spaces safer for the community; what were successes or challenges in your attempt?
  • How your positionality shaped your experience in restoration?
  • What you love about your work?
  • What keeps you up at night?
  • What has surprised you most in this work?
